Skagit Valley Tulip Festival 2024: What to do while you are in town

Tulip Visitors – What to do and where to eat while you are visiting for the Tulip Festival

Welcome to Skagit County aka Magic Skagit. Each year, thousands of visitors flock to Skagit county to experience the glory and abundance of Spring. There are several display gardens and fields in the area. You honestly can’t go wrong with which one you choose however our favorite is Roozengaard. This year, there is also a free roadside field at the intersection of Beaver marsh rd. and Calhoun rd. as well.

While you are in town, we recommend checking Downtown Mount Vernon.  Downtown holds a special place in our hearts because our shop is proudly on the intersection of 1st and Montgomery in a great historic building. Downtown is very walkable and has something for everyone. During the month of April, you will notice wonderful spring window displays. While you stroll through the area, check out some of our favorite places and vote for your favorite window display with the QR codes displayed in the windows.

    1. Skagit Valley Food Co-op. Great spot to grab lunch and shop their mercantile upstairs. They have salads, sandwiches, soup, a hot bar, smoothies, and ice cream. We recommend grabbing a Mocha Milkshake.
    2. JeKa Plant Store– Calling all plant parents! JeKa is a cute little plant shop just across the street from the Co-op. Stop by and grab yourself a new plant baby.
    3. District Brewery– Pizza, beer brewed on site, great patio and arcade games. District is a great spot for families! Kiddos can play in the Plaza out front while parents sit on the patio with a brew.
    4. Porterhouse Pub– 21 and up. Elevated pub food and assorted local taps. Yummy spot for the adults.
    5. El Sage – Family owned screen print apparel, all 100% original designs made in house and over 200 makers, authors, and small businesses to offer a variety of indie made items ready to gift.
    6. Ristretto Coffee Lounge and Wine Bar – We grab something from Ristretto almost everyday. The staff is great and as coffee snobs, we approve.
  1. West side
    1. Christinason’s Nursery – One of our favorite places in all of Skagit County. The grounds are stunning! Our favorite spots are the cactus greenhouse to warm up on a chilly day, the School House and English Rose Garden. They also have indoor and outdoor plants, a cute gift shop, and food trucks on the weekends.
    2. Snow Goose Produce – To avoid downtown traffic, you can take fir Island road to Conway and get on the I5 at exit 221. Before you head out, stop by Snow Goose Produce for ice cream.
  2. Around Town
    1. Farmstrong Brewery– Voted the Best Brewery in Skagit Valley for the past several years! They are dog and kid friendly and have a great spot outside if the weather is nice. They also have a food truck out back with THE BEST Mac and Cheese.
    2. Bertelsen Winery If you are more of a wine person, definitely check out Bertelsen Winery in south Mount Vernon. They have a great outdoor area, wood fired pizza and yummy wine.
    3. The Office– Located in Burlington just over the Skagit River is a great 21 and over spot called The Office.  They have great cocktails and sharable cocktails by the pitchers as well as pub food, tacos and breakfast served till 1. The hangover breakfast sandwich hits the spot.
